A Haviland & Colagiovanni production, this series of large format (20” x 24”) Polaroid photographs explores the suspended moment of a falling object just before it hits the ground, a still moment of anti-gravity.
“The Chandelier Series” relishes in the moment just before the climax of Haviland & Colagiovanni’s previous works. The images focus on capturing a falling still lives made of full sets of fine china, chandeliers, table linens, etc as they fall to eventually explode. In “Music for Teacups” and “Dinner Music”, Haviland & Colagiovanni created healing moments out of the wreckage of broken china. In “The Chandelier Series”, they will walk that slippery line of hope when the objects are suspended, floating, when we hold our breath, both anticipating and wishing away the eventual moment of destruction.”The Chandelier Series” is created using one of the few remaining large format 20” x 24” Polaroid cameras (http://www.20x24studio.com) in the world and some of the last available color film of this size.
