Curiouser / Archipelago
“You can’t take it with you…(curiouser & curiouser)” is another investigation through print installation, screenprint, and the utilitarian materials of blue tarp and Tyvek to depict domestic objects floating away in a sea. Here the blue is so blue it vibrates and hurts the eye. “You can’t take it with you…(curiouser & curiouser)” is a set of 44 oversized soft sculpture teacups and saucers (each roughly 24″w x 18″t) that litter the exhibition space. Printed with patterns of flowing waves, they feel like they are floating through the sea or have washed up on the beach and they are made of materials that will outlive us.
“You can’t take it with you…(curiouser & curiouser)” DETAIL, screen print and sewing on tarp and Tyvek, size varies (individual teacups and saucers 24″w x 18″t), 2019

“You can’t take it with you…(archipelago)” is a set of 13 rugs crocheted from blue tarp in the style of doilies. Ranging from 1′ to 6′ in diameter, the blue rugs ideally float on the gallery floor like puddles or island among the teacups of “Curiouser & Curiouser”.
